Punjab Congress Protests ED Chargesheet Against Gandhis, Calls It Political Vendetta

Punjab Congress leaders, led by state party chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, staged a protest outside the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office on Wednesday, denouncing the chargesheet filed against senior party leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case as an act of “political vendetta.”

The protesters accused the BJP-led central government of misusing investigative agencies to malign the image of the Congress leadership. Holding placards and banners, they raised slogans against the Centre, alleging that the charges were baseless and aimed at defaming the Gandhis.

The ED has accused Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi of laundering ₹988 crore. The chargesheet also names senior Congress leaders Sam Pitroda and Suman Dubey as co-accused.

Warring led the protest with a sit-in outside the ED office. Several prominent leaders participated, including Leader of the Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, MLAs Rana Gurjeet Singh and Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, and former minister Balbir Singh Sidhu.

Warring criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming he was using the ED and a “pliant media” to create a false narrative of corruption against the Gandhis. “Modi could not find any evidence against the Gandhis during 10 years of NDA rule. Where is the laundered money?” he questioned.
