SSP-XI Clinches Shaheed Bhagat Singh Premier Cricket League Title
In the final of the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Premier Cricket League, SSP-XI emerged victorious by defeating Doctors-XI by 4 wickets in a thrilling contest. The tournament, organised by the Hoshiarpur District Cricket Association (HDCA) in collaboration with the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), aimed to raise awareness among youth about the dangers of drug abuse.
HDCA Secretary Dr. Raman Ghai shared details of the match, stating that Doctors-XI won the toss and opted to bat first. They posted a competitive total of 196 runs in 20 overs. Key contributions came from Dr. Gurminder (64 runs), Dr. Rahul Bharti (43), Dr. Rohit Rajat (30), and Dr. Rupinder Sandhu (18).
For SSP-XI, Rakesh Roki led the bowling attack with 3 wickets, while Akhil Bali and Sandeep Mintu took 2 wickets each. Captain Subhash Chandra, Tarlochan Rana, and Lovepreet chipped in with one wicket apiece.
Chasing a target of 197, SSP-XI reached the mark in 19.4 overs, finishing at 200/6. Jatinder Lovely top-scored with 60 runs, supported by Rakesh Roki (34), Sandeep Mintu and Lovepreet (30 each), and Tarlochan Rana (20), securing the win for their team.
In the bowling department for Doctors-XI, Dr. Hitesh Aggarwal and Dr. Sahil Adia claimed two wickets each, while Dr. Gurminder and Dr. Rupinder Sandhu took one apiece.
With this win, SSP-XI claimed the title of the Jagruk Punjab Premier League.
The final was graced by Hoshiarpur District Magistrate Aashika Jain, who attended as the chief guest. She met the players and extended her best wishes, commending the tournament's objective of promoting social awareness through sports.
