BSF to Resume Retreat Ceremony at Attari-Wagah Border Following Ceasefire

Following the recent ceasefire between India and Pakistan, the Border Security Force (BSF) will resume the Retreat Ceremony parade at the Attari-Wagah joint check-post starting tomorrow. Spectators, however, are expected to be allowed from Wednesday onwards, a BSF official confirmed.

The ceremonial parade will also recommence at the Hussainiwala border in Ferozepur and the Sadiqi International Border in Fazilka district from tomorrow.

The iconic ceremony, known worldwide for its coordinated drill and patriotic fervor, was suspended amid rising tensions after the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives. In response to the attack, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor on May 6, striking nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.

While the daily flag-lowering ceremony continued at the joint check-posts, the regular parade by BSF personnel had been halted since May 7 as a precautionary measure.
