BSF and Punjab Police Seize Nine Pistols Near Border in Joint Operation

In a coordinated operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police recovered a cache of weapons along the International Border in Punjab, seizing a total of nine pistols over two days.

Acting on intelligence inputs, the forces launched an extensive search in the Amritsar sector on April 17. During the operation, they discovered a large package wrapped in yellow adhesive tape with a metal ring attached, concealed in a harvested field near Mahawa village, a BSF officer reported on Friday. The package contained six pistols and 14 magazines.

In a separate incident the previous day, three pistols, six magazines, and 97 rounds of ammunition were recovered in the Tarn Taran sector, also close to the border.

BSF officials believe both consignments were air-dropped by drones originating from Pakistan — a method increasingly used to smuggle arms, drugs, and other contraband into Indian territory.
