Suspected Missile Debris Found in Hoshiarpur Amid Rising Indo-Pak Tensions
Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, debris believed to be from a missile was discovered in a field near Kamahi Devi village in Hoshiarpur district, officials said on Friday.
According to Hoshiarpur Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Mukesh Kumar, the metal fragments were found on Thursday evening and appeared to resemble parts of a missile. Local police immediately cordoned off the area and notified the Indian Air Force.
An IAF team arrived at the site shortly afterward, conducted a preliminary inspection, and collected the debris for further analysis and safe disposal. “The origin and type of the object have not been confirmed yet. Detailed investigation is underway,” the police official said.
The discovery comes as Punjab remains on high alert, following a surge in military activity along the India-Pakistan border. On Thursday evening, blackouts were enforced in several cities including Pathankot, Mohali, Jalandhar, Amritsar, and Hoshiarpur as a precautionary measure.
The alert follows India’s successful interception of Pakistani attempts to target military stations using drones and missiles in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur, and other strategic locations. The Indian Armed Forces reportedly neutralised these threats, preventing any major damage and further escalation.
The situation remains tense as authorities continue to monitor developments closely and assess the growing security risks in the region.
