SIT to Question SAD Leader Bikram Singh Majithia Again in Patiala

The Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar, is set to question Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia again on Tuesday at the Patiala Police Lines.

This follows an extensive interrogation session on Monday, where Majithia was grilled for over eight hours. The four-member SIT had issued fresh summons for another round of questioning.

Before entering the police lines at 11 a.m. for his questioning, Majithia addressed the media, stating that he was fully cooperating with the SIT. "I have always answered all queries raised by the SITs formed by the Punjab government. This is nothing but political vendetta, with the government determined to frame me," he alleged.

On Monday, SIT member Varun Sharma disclosed that the case under investigation involves four accused, three of whom are currently abroad. “Efforts are underway to bring them back for questioning,” he said. He further added that the SIT is scrutinizing certain “financial transactions related to the case.”

“We are investigating suspicious financial activities in some firms and corroborating the details. There are unusual cash deposits in bank accounts and a significant rise in assets that require further explanation,” Sharma stated.

The SIT is probing a drugs-related case against Majithia, linked to an FIR filed in December 2021 under the NDPS Act.

Last week, a Bench led by Justice JK Maheshwari directed Majithia to appear before the SIT headquarters in Patiala. The court also stated that if necessary, he might be required to appear again on March 18. "The authorities are permitted to interrogate him and complete the investigation," the Bench ruled.
