Raja Warring Criticizes AAP Government Over Rs 14,000 Crore Pending Arrears

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president and Ludhiana MP, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, has launched a sharp attack on the AAP government in Punjab, accusing it of betraying the trust of over six lakh government employees and pensioners by failing to clear pending arrears since 2021.

Warring criticized the AAP government’s recent court affidavit, in which it promised to pay arrears amounting to approximately Rs 14,000 crore by 2029-30. Calling the timeline unacceptable, he questioned, “Who will wait until 2030 for what is rightfully theirs?” He described the move as a reflection of the incompetence and apathy of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s administration.

The Congress leader further slammed the AAP government for failing to address key governance issues and breaking its electoral promises. “Bhagwant Mann and AAP came to power claiming they would bring revolutionary change. Instead, they have betrayed the very people who trusted them,” he stated.

Warring assured employees and pensioners that the Congress government, if elected in 2027, would reinstate the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) in Punjab. He pointed to the example of Himachal Pradesh, where the Congress government fulfilled its promise by scrapping the New Pension Scheme in favor of OPS. “We understand the importance of financial security for employees and pensioners. Just like Himachal, we will ensure the Old Pension Scheme is brought back in Punjab once the Congress is in power,” he added.

Accusing the AAP government of offering only “hollow assurances,” Warring reaffirmed the Congress’ commitment to employee welfare and financial stability in Punjab.
