Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Calls Late-Night Meeting Ahead of Budget Session
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has scheduled a meeting with his council of ministers on Thursday night at his residence.
According to government sources, the meeting will primarily focus on finalizing budget proposals for the 2025-26 financial year, as the state’s Budget Session is set to begin on Friday. Additionally, the ministers are expected to discuss the political ramifications of the government’s crackdown on protesting farmers.
Scheduled for 7:30 PM, the meeting will allow the state leadership to assess the day’s developments regarding the ongoing farmer protests. The government has been closely monitoring the situation, particularly the response to calls for mass mobilization.
So far, reports indicate that despite efforts by farmer representatives to rally support— including making appeals through gurdwaras in villages— the response has remained subdued.
