Missile Debris Found in Amritsar Village Amid India-Pakistan Tensions; No Casualties Reported

Amid heightened tensions following India’s precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, panic spread through Jethuwal village in the Kathunangal area near the Amritsar-Batala road in the early hours of Thursday after fragments of a missile were discovered scattered across fields and even in some residential areas.

The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m., when villagers reported hearing distant explosion-like sounds. Shortly afterward, they found debris from what appeared to be a missile — including a five-foot-long cylindrical object — lying in the agricultural fields of Baldev Singh and Makhan Singh.

Fortunately, no injuries or damage to property were reported. The villagers alerted local police, who, along with forensic experts, arrived at the scene to investigate. The origin of the missile remains unclear, with police officials stating it was not immediately known whether the debris was from an Indian or Pakistani missile.

“There was neither an explosion nor any visible impact on the ground,” said Maninder Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police (Rural), Amritsar. “The missile parts were simply found lying in the fields, and we are thoroughly examining them. The Army has also been informed and will assist in the investigation,” he added.

Simultaneously, three loud explosions were reported in Amritsar city, further fueling public anxiety. In response, the district administration quickly issued an advisory urging residents to remain calm, while confirming that a blackout exercise had been reinitiated as a precautionary measure.

Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, Police Commissioner of Amritsar, confirmed the reports of loud noises but reassured residents that no damage or incidents occurred in the city itself.

Investigations are ongoing, and both police and military officials are working to determine the origin and nature of the missile components found.
