Manish Sisodia Seeks Blessings at Kali Mata Temple, Vows to Eradicate Drug Menace in Punjab
On the first day of Navratras, Manish Sisodia, the newly appointed Punjab affairs incharge of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), offered prayers at the Kali Mata Temple in Patiala, seeking divine blessings for his party’s mission to eliminate the drug menace in Punjab.
“This is more than just a festival—Navratras mark a spiritual journey where we connect with divine energy and draw strength to overcome challenges,” Sisodia said. “With the blessings of Maa Kali, we will defeat modern-day demons like drug addiction. Punjab will soon be free from this curse.”
The visit came shortly after Sisodia’s reappointment to the Punjab role, a position he previously held until 2020. His return follows internal discussions within the party and comes amid ongoing efforts by AAP to address critical issues in the state. Sisodia was accompanied by Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh during the temple visit.
Sisodia emphasized that the AAP government in Punjab has launched an aggressive campaign against drug abuse, but acknowledged that divine blessings are essential in addressing such deep-rooted challenges.
He also spoke about his recent interactions at government schools in the state. “I attended a parent-teacher meeting yesterday and spoke with students. It was inspiring to hear that many parents are shifting their children from private to government schools due to visible improvements. This marks nothing less than an educational revolution,” he said.
AAP credits Sisodia with transforming Delhi’s public education system during his tenure as Education Minister, prior to his arrest in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. Despite the controversy, his leadership continues to be projected by the party as a model of governance reform, particularly in education.
