Heavy Police Deployment at Shambhu Border Amid Internet Suspension

The internet service has been suspended in multiple areas around the Shambhu border, where a heavy police presence has been observed. Security forces have been deployed in nearby villages, with a senior police official confirming that officers have been instructed to remain stationed at Shambhu. Additionally, ambulances and riot-control vehicles have been positioned in the area as a precautionary measure.

A senior police officer stated that further instructions were awaited. “We have been assigned specific locations to report to, but we are still unclear whether our deployment is intended to disperse protesters,” said an SP-level officer.

Adding to the preparations, tractors equipped with towing hooks have been stationed near the police post at Shambhu. Meanwhile, farmers who were not part of the delegation that engaged in discussions with the Centre in Chandigarh have started gathering in the area.

Security measures have also been tightened near Banur, located 15 km from Shambhu, with additional forces directed to remain on high alert. Police officers are stopping vehicles near Banur, questioning commuters about their destinations.

In contrast, the situation remains calm at the Khanauri border. Routine announcements continue to be made, with no signs of immediate tension in the area.
