Fifteen Patients Experience Mild Reactions to IV Glucose at Sangrur Civil Hospital; Stock Withdrawn

Fifteen patients at Sangrur Civil Hospital reported experiencing mild reactions after being administered intravenous glucose, prompting authorities to withdraw the entire stock of the affected medicine batch.

Following the incident, AAP MLA Narinder Kaur Bharaj visited the hospital to check on the well-being of the affected patients. “Upon receiving news of reactions among women patients who were given IV fluids post-delivery, I immediately visited the hospital. I inquired about their condition and also met with a team of doctors,” Bharaj told reporters.

Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh confirmed that all patients were in stable condition. “Mild reactions were reported today in Sangrur after the use of Glucose IV Fluid. Immediate action has been taken, and all stocks have been withdrawn across Punjab,” he stated in a post on X.

He further assured that samples of the IV fluid had been sent for urgent testing, and strict action would be taken if any negligence was found. “There is no need to panic. Our medical experts are closely monitoring the situation. All affected patients are fine, and their health remains our top priority,” he added.
