Captain Amarinder Singh Extends Support to Kashmiri Students Amid Reports of Harassment

Amid rising concerns over incidents of harassment faced by Kashmiri students in Punjab, Chandigarh, and other parts of the country, former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has extended a strong message of solidarity and support. In a telephonic conversation with Nasir Khuehami, National Convenor of the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA), Captain Amarinder expressed deep concern over the recent spate of targeted intimidation against Kashmiri youth in educational institutions.

Calling the situation alarming, Singh assured Khuehami that his doors were always open to any Kashmiri student in distress. "Every Kashmiri student is like my own child. They are an inseparable part of India, and Punjab is as much their home as Kashmir," he said, underscoring his commitment to fostering national unity and communal harmony.

He reaffirmed that Punjab would continue to be a safe and welcoming place for all communities, particularly for students from Jammu and Kashmir seeking education and peace far from their conflict-affected homeland.

“To every Kashmiri student facing intimidation or injustice, please know you are not alone. I stand with you. Whether in Punjab, Chandigarh, or anywhere else in India, I will offer every possible support to ensure your safety, dignity, and rights,” Captain Amarinder stated.

Responding to the outreach, Nasir Khuehami welcomed the gesture and said, “Captain Amarinder Singh’s words carry weight. At a time when some forces are attempting to marginalize and isolate minority students, such statements from senior leaders offer reassurance and promote a much-needed sense of inclusion.”

Captain Amarinder’s intervention comes at a critical time, as reports of harassment have sparked widespread concern among Kashmiri youth studying far from home in pursuit of education and opportunity.
