Punjab on Edge: 16th Grenade Attack Hits BJP Leader’s Residence Amid Ongoing Terror Plot
Jalandhar, April 8, 2025 — In a disturbing escalation of violence, a grenade attack targeted the residence of BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia in Jalandhar just past midnight on Monday. This marks the 16th such incident in Punjab since September 2024, raising serious concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
Punjab Police claim they have developed “important leads” in the case and expect to arrest the culprits soon. Initial investigations suggest the use of Arges model grenades, likely sourced from Pakistan army’s outdated explosives stock, which have a notorious history — being linked to both the 1993 Mumbai blasts and the 2001 Indian Parliament attack.
“These are desperate attempts by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in collusion with a network of gangsters and terrorists. Most cases have been cracked, but a few remain under investigation,” a senior police officer stated. “Terror modules are being operated by handlers abroad who lure youth with money, promises of a better future overseas, and weapons.”

-
ISI Involvement: The ISI is allegedly providing financial and logistical support to execute these strikes.
-
Terror Network: Groups like Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) are behind the attacks. Leaders like Harvinder Singh Rinda and Ranjit Singh Neeta are believed to be coordinating operations from abroad.

Political Targets: The latest shift in strategy involves targeting political figures, as seen in the attack on Manoranjan Kalia’s home.
-
Modus Operandi: Use of encrypted communications and vehicles with fake number plates shows a high degree of coordination and planning.
Rising Alarm Among Political Circles
Both BJP and Congress have expressed concern over the security situation in Punjab, demanding stricter action against those behind the spate of attacks. “Criminals seem to be operating with impunity. This must end,” said a senior leader from the opposition.
As investigations progress, Punjab Police remain on high alert, hoping their recent leads will soon result in arrests — and justice for a state under siege.
