Trump Faces Backlash on Truth Social Over AI Video of Gaza with Topless Netanyahu and Bearded Bellydancers
Supporters on Trump's Own Platform Criticize AI-Generated Footage Imagining Gaza as a Luxury Resort Featuring Him and the Israeli PM
Donald Trump is under fire on his own social media platform, Truth Social, after sharing an AI-generated video that envisions a radically transformed Gaza. The footage portrays Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who appears topless, sipping cocktails in a futuristic, Dubai-style resort built on the war-torn Palestinian territory.
The video, tied to Trump’s controversial proposal for Gaza’s redevelopment, presents his so-called "Riviera of the Middle East" plan, which he previously described as a way to "clean out" the population of roughly 2 million people. Critics argue the plan promotes ethnic cleansing.
In the AI-created footage, Gaza is depicted as a modern paradise with towering skyscrapers, luxury yachts, and children playing on pristine beaches. Money rains down as bearded bellydancers perform on the sand. Trump is lionized in the surreal imagery—a child carries a golden balloon in the shape of his head, and a massive statue of the former president looms over the city. Billionaire Elon Musk, a known Trump supporter, appears multiple times in the video, eating flatbread and later dancing as dollar bills float down around him. Tesla cars glide along the streets of the imagined metropolis.
After the 78-year-old former president posted the video with the caption “Gaza 2025 … what’s next?”, it sparked strong reactions—even from his staunchest supporters.
“I could not be a bigger supporter of President Trump, but this particular video is in very poor taste. Very poor taste, indeed!” one Truth Social user commented. Another wrote: “I hate this. I love our president, but this is horrible.”
The video may have been particularly off-putting to Trump’s Christian supporters, with many criticizing the imagery of a golden Trump statue—seen by some as idolatrous. Others took issue with a scene where Trump appears in a nightclub, watching a bellydancer perform.
“Only one deserves the glory and the honor, Mr. President,” a user commented. “The statue is a symbol of the antichrist. Please humble yourself before God. Jesus is king and only Him.” Others condemned the video as “sick” and “filth.”
Another account, named Kainoa P, posted: “You’re doing great, Mr. President. But don’t let it get to your head. God put you in that position for His glory, not yours.”
It remains unclear who originally created the AI-generated video, though it had previously circulated online through accounts unconnected to the White House. Trump shared it without any commentary.
The video also featured what appeared to be AI-generated lyrics, celebrating Trump’s supposed vision for Gaza:
“Donald’s coming to set you free, bringing the light for all to see, no more tunnels, no more fear: Trump Gaza’s finally here. Trump Gaza’s shining bright, golden future, a brand new life. Feast and dance the deal is done, Trump Gaza number one.”
Meanwhile, Israel faces mounting accusations of genocide in Gaza, where the ongoing war—sparked by Hamas’s attack on October 7, 2023—has claimed nearly 50,000 lives, the majority being civilians. The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Hamas’s military chief, Mohammed Deif, over alleged war crimes. While Netanyahu denies any wrongdoing, Deif’s current status is unknown, with speculation that he may already be dead.
Previous efforts to develop Gaza’s economy were blocked by Israel’s years-long blockade and accusations of corruption within Hamas. Palestinian leaders were not consulted on Trump’s latest plan, and key Middle Eastern nations—including Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia—have firmly rejected it.
