Pastor Bajinder Singh Booked for Sexual Harassment in Punjab
Bajinder Singh, a pastor from Punjab known for his viral "Yeshu Yeshu" videos, has been booked in a sexual harassment case in Jalandhar district.
According to the complaint, a woman alleged that she and her parents had been attending Singh’s church since October 2017. She claimed that while volunteering at the church, the pastor inappropriately touched her.
The complainant further alleged that Singh sent her inappropriate messages multiple times over four years, beginning in 2020 when she was 17. She also accused him of threatening to harm her and her family if she reported the matter.
As per her statement to the police, Singh initially obtained her mobile number and began messaging her. Fearful of him, she refrained from informing her parents. From 2022 onwards, she alleged that Singh would make her sit alone in a cabin at the church on Sundays, where he would hug her and touch her inappropriately.
A case has been registered against Singh under Sections 354-A (sexual harassment), 354-D (stalking), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Bajinder Singh Denies Allegations
Singh, who claims to be a "miracle healer," dismissed the allegations as baseless.
"These days, fake chats can be easily created. In the past two and a half years, she could not produce any evidence,” he stated. He further claimed that the woman suffered from seizures and was influenced by "evil spirits."
Despite the charges, the 42-year-old pastor has not yet turned himself in.
From Imprisonment to Preaching
Born into a Hindu-Jat family in Haryana’s Yamunanagar, Singh converted to Christianity nearly 15 years ago while serving a prison sentence in a murder case.
Following his release in 2012, he became a preacher, initially delivering sermons in Mohali. In 2014, he established the Tajpur Church, which has since expanded to 23 branches in Punjab and several others abroad, including in Canada, the UK, and Dubai.
Social Media Presence and Celebrity Endorsements
Popularly referred to as "Prophet Bajinder Singh" by his followers, Singh has a substantial social media presence. His Instagram handle bears the same title, and many of his followers address him as "Papa."
With 3.74 million subscribers on YouTube, Singh frequently shares videos of his sermons and "miracle healings," claiming to cure ailments such as HIV and muteness through large-scale gatherings. His content is widely circulated on platforms like YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels.
Over the years, he has received endorsements from several Bollywood celebrities, including Chunky Pandey, Jaya Prada, Arbaaz Khan, Tusshar Kapoor, and Aditya Pancholi.
A History of Controversy
Singh’s life has been fraught with legal troubles. In 2018, he was accused of rape after a woman alleged that he assaulted her at his residence in Sector 63, Chandigarh, and recorded the act.
He was arrested at Indira Gandhi International Airport while attempting to leave for London but was later released on bail. The case is currently being heard in a Mohali court, which recently issued warrants against him.
