Opposition Slams AAP Over Rajya Sabha Speculation Amid Ludhiana West Bypoll

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its convener Arvind Kejriwal have come under fire from opposition leaders following the party’s decision to nominate Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora as its candidate for the Ludhiana West by-election on Wednesday.

The move has fueled speculation about Kejriwal’s potential entry into the Rajya Sabha, reigniting debates over his political future and the internal power dynamics within the opposition.

BJP Accuses Kejriwal of Political Maneuvering

Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu openly questioned AAP’s decision to field a sitting Rajya Sabha MP in a state-level election.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Bittu alleged:

"Is Arvind Kejriwal plotting his own Rajya Sabha entry? Is he desperate for a government bungalow in Delhi? The man will go to any extent to maintain his dictatorship. Greed has no limits!"

BJP’s IT cell chief Amit Malviya and Punjab BJP general secretary Anil Sarin also linked Sanjeev Arora’s nomination to Kejriwal’s alleged bid to secure a Rajya Sabha seat.

Congress Alleges Kejriwal’s Bid for “Remote Control” Over Punjab

Congress leader and Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa joined the attack, accusing Kejriwal of attempting to exert indirect control over Punjab by entering the Upper House.

Randhawa posted on X:

"Arvind Kejriwal is executing his plan. If he becomes a Rajya Sabha member, he will control Punjab as the ‘Undercover Chief Minister.’ The face will be Bhagwant Mann, but the real power will lie with Kejriwal."

Rising Political Tensions

The Ludhiana West by-election was necessitated following the tragic demise of MLA Gurpreet Gogi Bassi. AAP’s decision to nominate Sanjeev Arora, rather than a new contender, has intensified suspicions about the party’s larger political strategy.

As opposition leaders continue to question the motives behind the move, the debate over Kejriwal’s political trajectory and his influence in Punjab’s governance is expected to heat up further in the coming weeks.
