Jalandhar Administration Cancels Licences of 50 Illegal Immigration Firms
In a significant move to curb unauthorized immigration practices, the Jalandhar district administration has cancelled the licences of 50 immigration firms operating without valid approvals.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal stated that these firms failed to renew their licences despite being issued show-cause notices. As they did not respond to the notices, the administration proceeded with licence cancellations.
The action is part of a larger crackdown launched in February, during which notices were sent to 271 travel agencies and immigration firms in the district. The initiative gained momentum following the return of several individuals deported from the US after allegedly being sent abroad via illegal "dunki" routes.
Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to safeguarding the public from fraudulent operators, Dr. Aggarwal urged residents to consult only legally registered immigration consultants. He emphasized that firms must have valid licences issued by the district administration to operate lawfully.
The Deputy Commissioner added that the administration conducts regular checks on immigration businesses in the district and is prepared to take strict action against violators. Several other firms are currently under scrutiny for irregularities, and their licences may also be revoked as per government guidelines.
This ongoing drive aims to eliminate fraudulent practices in the immigration sector and ensure that residents receive transparent and lawful services.
