52 Punjab Police Officers Dismissed for Corruption, Says DGP

Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav announced on Wednesday that 52 police officials had been dismissed from service on corruption charges. The dismissed officers, ranging from constables to inspectors, were part of a state-wide exercise initiated to tackle corruption within the force.

Yadav revealed that the dismissals followed recommendations from district SSPs over the past 10 days. This action was taken in response to instructions from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who had emphasized the need to address corruption and abuse of power within the police department.

The Chief Minister had received complaints about police officers allegedly registering fake FIRs to extort money, prompting the crackdown on corrupt officers.
