14-Year-Old Girl Seriously Injured in Acid Attack at School
A 14-year-old schoolgirl has sustained serious injuries after a substance, believed to be acidic, was thrown at her and another teenager outside her school in west London. A staff member also suffered injuries while attempting to assist them.
The girl is currently hospitalized with potentially life-altering injuries following the incident at Westminster Academy in Westbourne Park, which occurred after school hours on Monday afternoon.
According to the Metropolitan Police, the two teens were approached by a male on Alfred Road, who threw the substance at them before fleeing down Harrow Road. The suspect is described as a tall, slim Black male dressed in dark clothing and riding an e-scooter.
The police noted that the suspect’s face was obscured, possibly by a mask or balaclava, and he used the e-scooter to arrive and leave the scene.
A 16-year-old boy involved in the incident is also in the hospital, but his injuries are not life-threatening. The injured staff member, a 27-year-old woman, has since been discharged from the hospital.
Westminster Academy clarified that the injured boy is a member of the public and not a student at the school.
Additionally, two police officers were taken to the hospital by the London Ambulance Service as a precaution after feeling unwell but have since been sent home. Metropolitan Police officers were alerted to the incident around 16:40 BST after being flagged down by the staff member while on patrol on Alfred Road.
