Simranjit Singh Mann Condemns Demolition of Drug Traffickers' Houses

Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann has strongly criticized the Punjab Government's anti-narcotics campaign, particularly the demolition of houses belonging to alleged drug traffickers. He termed the act as a violation of Supreme Court rulings and an inhuman approach by the police.

Mann stated that while strict legal action should be taken against individuals involved in drug smuggling, the demolition of homes under the pretext of illegal possession goes against the Supreme Court’s guidelines. He emphasized that law enforcement must act within the legal framework, rather than arbitrarily destroying homes without due process.

Announcing a public campaign against what he described as police brutality, Mann asserted, "There are stringent laws in place to combat crime, and justice should be served through the legal system, not through unlawful demolitions."

Addressing reports of mistreatment of Sikhs in Himachal Pradesh, Mann condemned the incidents as deplorable and urged the Punjab Government to engage in dialogue with the Himachal Pradesh administration to address the concerns.

His remarks come amid growing debate over the Punjab Government's aggressive crackdown on drug-related crimes and its methods of enforcement.
