Seven-Year-Old Boy Rescued After Kidnapping; One Accused Shot Dead in Encounter

A seven-year-old boy from a peasant family in Seehan Daud was allegedly kidnapped by two motorcycle-borne suspects while playing outside his home on the outskirts of the village.

Following the abduction, separate teams from Payal and Amargarh police launched a search operation. The suspects were later spotted on the Malerkotla-Khanna road.

The case took a dramatic turn near Mandour village on Nabha Road in Patiala, where an encounter took place between the police and the kidnappers. In the operation, the joint teams of Patiala and Khanna police successfully rescued the child, while one accused was shot dead.

“The suspects were traced near Patiala. When our teams attempted to apprehend them, they opened fire, prompting retaliation,” a senior police officer stated.

The victim, Bhavkirat Singh, a Class I student, is the grandson of Gurjant Singh, a farmer and commission agent from Seehan Daud. Gurjant had reported the kidnapping to the police control room after his grandson was taken by two unidentified assailants in the evening.

Patiala Range DIG Mandeep Singh Sidhu is set to hold a press conference at 6 PM today at the Police Line Patiala conference hall to share further details on the case.
