Punjab Congress Slams CM Mann for Criticizing Rahul Gandhi, Allege BJP Alignment

A political war of words broke out on Monday as senior Punjab Congress leaders Partap Singh Bajwa and Amarinder Singh Raja Warring hit back at Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for his recent remarks against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi.

Just a day earlier, CM Mann had said that Rahul Gandhi was “not cut out to be a leader,” claiming, “He doesn’t have that quality. God has not given him that. Why are you pushing him to become a leader? It’s not like a family fiefdom that after father, the son takes charge. Please leave him. Poor guy! He is very sad about where he has got stuck.”

Reacting strongly, Bajwa accused the CM of parroting the BJP’s script. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Bajwa wrote, “Rahul Gandhi walked 4,080 km in the Bharat Jodo Yatra to unite India and fight for the poor and minorities, while Punjab drowns in drugs and despair under your #6pmNoCM watch. Unfulfilled promises, skipped budget sessions—@RahulGandhi defends the Constitution in Parliament, while you dodge questions and echo @BJP4India. Chandrayaan soared, but your booze-fueled leadership remains grounded.”

Warring echoed Bajwa’s sentiment, saying it was unfortunate that CM Mann had “enrolled himself in the BJP’s troll army” as a “foot soldier.” He further alleged that, “It is now an open secret that Mann sahab takes orders from Union Home Minister Amit Shah.”

Accusing the Chief Minister of going above and beyond to please the BJP, Warring added, “After unleashing a reign of terror on farmers, Mann Sahab now seems desperate to prove his loyalty. It looks like @AamAadmiParty and @AAPPunjab have willingly turned into BJP’s B-team, with Mann lining up as one of their ‘reserve players’.”

Suggesting ulterior motives behind the CM’s targeting of Gandhi, Warring remarked, “Maybe he has some unexplained compulsions to attack @RahulGandhi without cause. ‘Kuchh toh majbooriyan rahi hongi, yu he koi bewafa nahi hota…’”

The Congress leaders’ sharp rebuke highlights growing tensions between the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress in Punjab, even as both parties attempt to navigate a complex political landscape ahead of key elections.
