YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia Issues Apology Following Backlash Over Controversial Remarks on Parents and Sex

Allahbadia Faces Widespread Criticism for His Inappropriate Comments on Samay Raina’s 'India’s Got Latent'

Renowned YouTuber and influencer Ranveer Allahbadia has issued a public apology following severe backlash over his contentious remarks made during an appearance on comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube reality show, India’s Got Latent. The comment, perceived as distasteful, sparked widespread condemnation, with numerous individuals—including prominent politicians—calling for action against him and the show’s creators.

The controversy has also drawn sharp criticism from Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and opposition leaders, who accused Allahbadia of misusing the freedom of speech for personal gain.

Allahbadia, widely recognized as BeerBiceps, commands a significant digital presence with over 600,000 followers on X (formerly Twitter), 4.5 million on Instagram, and a staggering 10.5 million subscribers on YouTube. His remarks on India’s Got Latent, a show known for its edgy humor bordering on the offensive, swiftly went viral, leading to a police complaint filed by a BJP functionary against the show's producers, judges, and participants.

Allahbadia’s Public Apology

Amid mounting criticism, Allahbadia posted a video apology on X, acknowledging that his remarks were inappropriate and lacking in humor.

“Comedy is not my forte. I am here only to apologize,” he stated. “Many have questioned whether this is how I intend to utilize my platform. The answer is a resounding no. I do not seek to offer justifications or explanations. I accept full responsibility and recognize my lapse in judgment. It was neither appropriate nor acceptable.”

He further emphasized that he takes accountability seriously, especially given his substantial influence over the youth.

“Family is something I deeply respect and would never intentionally demean. This incident has reinforced the need for me to exercise greater discretion in how I use my platform. I have requested the video’s creators to remove the insensitive portions. All I can do is sincerely apologize and hope for understanding,” he added.

Political and Public Outrage

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, while admitting he had not personally seen the contentious clip, underscored the importance of respecting societal norms and the limitations of free speech.

“Freedom of speech is a fundamental right, but it ends where it infringes upon others’ dignity. Our society operates within a framework of established norms, and any violation of these must be addressed,” he stated in Mumbai on Monday.

Writer and storyteller Neelesh Misra also condemned the remarks, sharing the clip on his X page with the caption: ‘Meet the perverted creators shaping our country’s creative economy.’ Misra criticized the content for lacking responsible oversight, pointing out that the video was easily accessible to minors due to algorithmic recommendations.

“This is not designated as adult content, meaning any child can come across it without restriction. The creators and the platform exhibit zero accountability. Crude, banal, and insensitive behavior is now being masked as ‘cool.’ They exploit free speech without consequence,” Misra remarked.

Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate echoed Misra’s sentiments, asserting, “This is not creativity. It is perversion. We cannot allow such depravity to be normalized. The fact that this comment was met with applause is deeply concerning.”

Legal Scrutiny and Social Media Boycott

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has since announced that it is reviewing the matter.

Shiv Sena leader Raju Waghmare also condemned the incident, warning against the misuse of free speech.

“Such language is unacceptable in the land of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. We caution him against such actions. Freedom of speech must not be misused, and Shiv Sena will not tolerate it,” he told PTI.

Public outrage has also translated into an online movement, with many urging others to unfollow Allahbadia across social media platforms.

“He does not deserve respect or a following,” a user on X stated, calling for a collective boycott.

Another user declared she had unsubscribed from both Allahbadia and Samay Raina, stating, “Influencers like these are corrupting our youth and distorting Indian cultural values. We must promote content that respects our heritage. #BeerBiceps #RanveerAllahbadia #IndiasGotLatent.”

A Controversial Figure in Digital Media

Allahbadia, a high-profile digital creator, was among those honored with a National Creators Award by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2023. He has also previously collaborated with the Digital India Corporation, conducting interviews with various Cabinet Ministers.

This controversy underscores the growing debate around digital content regulation, the accountability of influencers, and the ethical responsibilities of online creators in shaping public discourse.
