Punjab Police Initiate Legal Action Against Eight Immigration Consultants for Defrauding US-Bound Migrants

Action Follows Complaints Filed by Recently Deported Illegal Migrants

The Punjab Police have intensified their crackdown on an extensive multinational human trafficking syndicate, registering eight First Information Reports (FIRs) against fraudulent immigration consultants who misled individuals with false promises of illegal entry into the United States. This decisive move follows multiple complaints lodged by deported migrants who fell victim to these deceptive practices.

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) PK Sinha, who spearheads the Special Investigation Team (SIT), stated, “We have commenced the systematic dismantling of the multinational human trafficking network that has been operating within the region.” The SIT has meticulously documented testimonies from deportees who were misled and exploited by unscrupulous travel agents.

The SIT, led by ADGP NRI Affairs Praveen Sinha and comprising ADGP Internal Security Shive Kumar Verma, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Provisioning Dr. S. Boopathi, and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Border Range Satinder Singh, is vigilantly overseeing the investigation to ensure stringent legal action against the culprits. Senior law enforcement officials have engaged with the affected returnees, addressing their concerns and assuring them of due judicial process. Commissioners of Police (CPs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) from various districts and commissionerates are diligently collaborating with the SIT to expedite justice and curb such fraudulent activities.

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav reaffirmed the Punjab Police’s unwavering commitment to eradicating fraudulent immigration networks and safeguarding vulnerable individuals from exploitation. The authorities have urged citizens to exercise vigilance and promptly report any instances of fraudulent immigration schemes to law enforcement agencies.
