List of 12 US-based Gangsters Prepared for Sharing with Washington Ahead of Modi's Visit

India's Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has compiled a list of 12 notorious gangsters based in the United States, according to sources familiar with the matter. This list, which includes individuals with significant criminal backgrounds, is expected to be shared with U.S. authorities during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to the United States this week, his first since Donald Trump’s return to the Oval Office.

The list features high-profile criminals such as Anmol Bishnoi and Goldy Brar. According to insiders, while Indian agencies had previously maintained a general list of fugitives abroad, the MHA recently instructed them to specifically focus on criminals based in the U.S. and the status of their cases. As part of this directive, detailed dossiers on each of the 12 criminals have been compiled, along with notes on the efforts made by Indian agencies to bring them back.

Sources said Indian security agencies are optimistic about the possibility of smooth coordination with U.S. counterparts, hoping it will ultimately lead to deportations. Along with Bishnoi and Brar, the list includes several other gangsters such as Darmanjot Singh Kahlon (also known as Darman Kahlon), Amritpal Singh, Harjot Singh, Harbir Singh, Navroop Singh, Swaran Singh (alias Fauji), Sahil Kailash Ritoli, Yogesh (alias Bobby Beri), Ashu (alias Bhanu Pratap Sambhli), and Aman Sambhi.

Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi (who allegedly orchestrated the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique), was arrested in the U.S. in November last year for traveling with fake documents. He has been imprisoned in the U.S. since then. A special court in Mumbai recently issued non-bailable warrants for Anmol and two other accused individuals in connection with Siddique’s murder.

Goldy Brar, who has been declared a designated terrorist by India under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, is suspected of masterminding the killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. A prominent member of the Bishnoi gang, Brar, whose real name is Satinderjit Singh, moved to Canada in 2017 on a student visa and later relocated to California.

Darmanjot Singh Kahlon, also known as Darman Kahlon, is accused of providing weapons and conducting surveillance for the Moosewala murder. He is believed to be a key player in the criminal operations linking Canada-based BKI operatives, such as Lakhbir Singh Landa, and Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang. Kahlon has also been involved in smuggling weapons, explosives, and narcotics from Pakistan into India.

Amritpal Singh, also known as Amrit Bal, relocated to the U.S. in 2014 and is an active member of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang. He reportedly manages the gang’s operations in Punjab through his local network in the U.S. In 2023, he formed a collaboration with Paramjit Singh Pamma to establish terror cells in Punjab.

Many of these U.S.-based gangsters maintain close ties with smugglers in Pakistan to facilitate the illegal trafficking of large drug consignments into India. The smuggling operations often involve drones and the sea route, with gangsters using VPNs and encrypted messaging apps to avoid detection and safeguard their communications.

Indian authorities are hopeful that sharing this list with U.S. officials during Prime Minister Modi’s visit will strengthen cooperation on law enforcement matters and facilitate the deportation of these individuals.
