Raja Warring Accuses AAP Government of Deregistering PMAY-G Beneficiaries in Gidderbaha

Punjab Congress Committee (PCC) chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Wednesday alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had deregistered over 12,000 beneficiaries selected under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) in the Gidderbaha Assembly segment.

Warring claimed that the previous Congress-led government had finalized these beneficiaries, but the AAP administration, acting at the behest of local MLA Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon, scrapped the list and initiated a fresh survey.

Legal Action and Public Statement

Announcing his next course of action, Warring stated that he was gathering documents to challenge this move in the high court. He also uploaded a video message on Facebook to raise awareness about the issue.

Speaking to The Tribune, Warring said, "Gidderbaha had the highest number of beneficiaries under PMAY-G, but the rural development department, under pressure from the local AAP MLA, has removed all names and started a new survey. I will take this matter to court."

MLA Dhillon Denies Allegations

In response, AAP MLA Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon dismissed Warring’s claims, calling them politically motivated. He stated, "Raja Warring, who has been elected from Gidderbaha three times, is misleading the public. This is nothing more than a political stunt. No registered beneficiary will be denied PMAY-G benefits. A fresh survey is underway, and those meeting the eligibility criteria can apply."

Challenging Warring, Dhillon added, "If he can help any beneficiary avail of the scheme, I am ready to walk barefoot to his residence."

Clarification from Block Development Office

Meanwhile, Manjot Singh, Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) of Gidderbaha, clarified that any eligible individual could register as a PMAY-G beneficiary through the scheme’s official website.

The dispute highlights the ongoing political friction over welfare schemes in Punjab, as both parties continue to trade accusations over governance and implementation.
