Sarpanch’s Daughter Arrested with 18 gm Heroin in Jalandhar

The Jalandhar police have arrested Paramjit Kaur, alias Pammo, daughter of Naharpur village sarpanch Ranjit Kaur, after she was found in possession of 18 grams of heroin. The arrest was made on Tuesday at a police checkpoint near Naharpur village in the Kartarpur area.

According to police officials, Paramjit was apprehended after she attempted to discard a polybag upon spotting the approaching police party. “The initial search recovered 3 grams of heroin from the discarded bag, and an additional 15 grams was recovered during further investigation,” said Kartarpur DSP Vijay Kanwarpal.

A viral video on social media had earlier shown Paramjit allegedly holding a polybag containing a white substance in one hand and an electronic weighing scale in the other, raising public concern and prompting further scrutiny.

A case has been registered against her under Sections 21, 61, and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, along with Sections 111(2) and 111(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), at the Kartarpur police station.

Police revealed that this is not Paramjit's first run-in with the law; she has three previous cases against her, including one under the NDPS Act.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine whether she is part of a larger drug distribution network operating in the region.
