Chris Brown Released on £5 Million Bail by London Court

U.S. singer Chris Brown has been granted bail after being charged over an alleged unprovoked nightclub attack in London in 2023.

Chris Brown has been released on £5 million bail by a London court after being charged with grievous bodily harm in connection to an alleged attack at a nightclub last year. The 36-year-old Grammy-winning singer was accused of assaulting a music producer with a tequila bottle at Tape nightclub in Mayfair during an incident in 2023.

Brown was arrested in Salford last Thursday and had been held in custody after an initial bail request was denied on Friday. However, on Wednesday, Southwark Crown Court approved bail under strict conditions, including an immediate payment of £4 million, with an additional £1 million due within a week.

Although Brown was not present at the hearing, the judge emphasized that the financial guarantee—also known as a security fee—was intended to ensure his return to court. If Brown violates his bail conditions, he could be required to forfeit the full amount.

As part of his bail conditions, Brown must live at an address known to the court, avoid any contact with the alleged victim, stay away from the Tape nightclub, and not apply for any international travel documents. He must also surrender his passport when not actively touring.

Despite the legal proceedings, Brown is permitted to begin his world tour next month, starting with a show in Amsterdam on 8 June. He has scheduled performances in several major cities including Manchester, London, Cardiff, Birmingham, and Glasgow throughout June and July.

Brown is set to appear in court again on 20 June, in between his performances at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium and London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

He will be joined in court by his co-defendant, Omololu Akinlolu, a 38-year-old American artist known by his stage name HoodyBaby.
