Thousands Pay Tribute to Sidhu Moosewala on Third Death Anniversary in Moosa Village

Mansa, May 30 — A sea of fans gathered at Moosa village in Mansa district on Thursday to pay heartfelt tribute to slain Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala on his third death anniversary. The memorial event, marked by emotional scenes and calls for justice, drew supporters, artists, and dignitaries from across the state.

Moosewala’s parents, Balkaur Singh and Charan Kaur, organised a Sehaj Path (a continuous recitation of the Guru Granth Sahib) to honour their son’s memory. The singer’s younger brother also joined them in visiting the cremation site where hundreds paid their respects.

Speaking to the crowd, Balkaur Singh said, “Only we know how these three years have passed. Your unwavering support has given us the strength to keep going. Without it, we wouldn’t have come this far in the fight for justice for Sidhu.”

He criticized the government's alleged double standards, stating, “My son’s song was banned within 24 hours, yet gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s interview was aired repeatedly. Those demanding justice are being targeted and silenced.”

Singh also claimed that the state deliberately attempted to disrupt past memorial gatherings. “On Sidhu’s first barsi, they launched a crackdown on Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh to distract people and interfere with the event. Each time people gather to honour Sidhu, the government tries to create obstacles,” he added.

Sidhu’s mother, Charan Kaur, shared a heartfelt post on social media: “We overcame every hardship with a smile just by looking at your face. Now, it’s been three years of speaking to your pictures and waiting endlessly for justice.” She expressed deep disappointment over the handling of the case. “So much misinformation has been spread on social media, and even our hope for strict action has faded. But son, we will not back down. We will keep raising our voice,” she wrote.

Prominent personalities who attended the memorial included singer Jaswinder Brar, actor Dev Kharod, and several others who joined the family in paying homage to the late artist.

Sidhu Moosewala, known for his powerful lyrics and massive fan base, was shot dead on May 29, 2022. His death sent shockwaves across Punjab and the global Punjabi community, sparking ongoing debates about crime, censorship, and justice.
